Container Transport

CF&S Estonia is the leading container forwarding company in Estonia. Apart from the busiest destinations, the Far East, and North America, we offer shipments to all container ports worldwide through our network of agents. The aim is to provide our customers with the most cost-effective service and adequate information on the market.

CF&S Estonia’s main services in container transport are:

  • Full Container Load (FCL) is a means of transport booked for one customer.
  • Less than full Container Load (LCL).

In a partial container, the use of one container is shared between several different customers, i.e. the customers share the capacity of one container. A partial container is a good choice for smaller shipments that are not time critical. For less time-sensitive shipments, the use of sub-containers helps to save costs.

CF&S also offers a range of container services for fragile goods, mixed, bulk, and piece goods, and goods over standard dimensions, as well as reefer transport.
Thanks to our cooperation with major ocean carriers, we can find the most suitable place for your shipment on board. We can also guarantee you a suitable schedule, compliance with all standards and the availability of special equipment.

We have the following containers on offer:

  • 20′ and 40′ standard containers and 40′ and 45′ high containers,
  • 20′ and 40′ high refrigerated containers,
  • 20′ and 40′ top-loading containers,
  • flat containers with fold-down end walls (suitable for intermodal transport),
  • tank containers.

CF&S uses an internet-based booking and tracking system, and offer customs services in addition to transport services. This way we take the workload off your shoulders.

Our aim is to make life easy for the customer and to offer a door-to-door full-service solution. The entire supply chain process is managed and coordinated by professionals with many years of experience.

How to apply for Verified Gross Mass (VGM)?

VGM refers to the gross weight of the container including its content. There are two ways to obtain VGM.

  1. The first method entails weighing the packed and sealed container and its contents. The container is weighed along with the truck on which it is loaded. The weight of the truck and its fuel is then eliminated from the total value.
  2. The second method requires weighing all the cargo items and contents of the container. That includes the packing material, securing equipment, pallets or dunnage individually. This is then added to the container’s tare weight.

What shipping lines does CF&S work with?

We work with all the prominent names such as MSC, Maersk, CMA-CGM, Evergreen, COSCO, Hapag-Lloyd, OOCL, ONE etc.

How to choose the container suitable for my cargo?

You have five options to choose from.

  1. Standard containers, usually made of aluminium or steel also known as general-purpose containers.  Standard containers are provided in the following sizes: 20’DC, 40’DC, 40’HC, 45’HC
  2. The flat rack containers have collapsible sides that fold. That makes them ideal for transporting cars and boats. Flat rack containers are primarily meant for over width and heavyweight cargo due to its open construction.
  3. Open top containers have no roof and are ideal for amorphous goods such as machinery and logs.
  4. Refrigerated containers, also called reefers are used to transport cargo that requires protection from heat or cold, temperature control or ventilation. A wide variety of commodities can be shipped in refrigerated containers, including fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh and frozen meats, poultry and seafood, dairy products and fresh juices, live plants and flowers.
  5. Tank containers are cylindrical containers designed to retain liquids, gases and powders. They carry both hazardous and non-hazardous goods. Hazardous goods include oils, chemicals, and fuels. Non-hazardous goods include wines, spirits, and juices.

Also, there are plenty of non-standard containers available for a specific purpose or cargoes. We find the best option to fit your requirements.

What is drop off service?

Drop off service refers to the return of an empty container to the container owner’s terminal.

What do commercial invoice and packing lists mean and why are they required?

A commercial invoice is a standardized, commercial document drafted to reflect a transaction between a seller and a buyer. This document serves two purposes:

  1. It certifies the actual shipment of the goods by the seller (contractor) to the buyer (customer). The invoice lists the range and value of the goods.
  2. It serves as the basis for the collection of customs duties and for tax accounting.

A packing list serves as a product specification that contains detailed information for each item. The document is especially relevant as a supplement to the commercial invoice, if the cargo comprises a large unit of goods, with different weights and contents.

How much does insurance cost for one container?
